Franklin Regional HS Issues Clear Backpacks Donated by #1 Cochran
Pittsburgh, PA – May 5, 2014 – In the aftermath of the April 9th stabbing at Franklin Regional Senior High School, the school has implemented a new rule prohibiting students from carrying backpacks throughout the school day, unless those bags are clear.
#1 Cochran purchased 1,500 clear backpacks, enough for all of the 1,396 students at the Senior High School. The backpacks, which feature the slogan “FR Strong”, were distributed to the students over the course of the school’s lunch breaks earlier today.
Dirk Harper, #1 Cochran Team Member and parent of a Franklin Regional High School student, said “It’s a small step in rebuilding the feeling of security at the school, but as a parent, I think the backpacks will help give the students, faculty and parents alike, some peace of mind”.
“An incident like this is devastating, especially when it happens in our own backyard. It’s important to let the school district know they have the support of their community. It’s our responsibility to do what we can so the victims and their families can focus on their recovery,” said Rob Cochran, president and CEO of #1 Cochran.
