#1 Cochran VW of South Hills Opens New “White Frame” Showroom
Pittsburgh, PA – June 24, 2013 - #1 Cochran celebrated the grand opening of its all-new Volkswagen showroom last Thursday with a lively, German-themed “Open Haus.” The event, attended by Volkswagen executives, Dormont borough officials, business leaders and customers, drew more than 80 guests to the modern, Bauhaus-inspired showroom on West Liberty Avenue.
Rob Cochran, President and CEO of #1 Cochran, cut the ceremonial ribbon, marking the official opening of the region’s only “White Frame” Volkswagen facility which reflects the German automaker’s new architectural design concept.
“Nearly three years ago, Volkswagen approached us to represent their iconic brand here in Dormont,” said Mr. Cochran. “We were honored and humbled to become a Volkswagen dealer and are passionate about serving Volkswagen customers. This bright, white, state-of-the-art showroom will enable us to meet the needs of VW buyers and owners like never before.”
The dealership operated from a temporary facility one block from its new location since November 2010. From its inception, #1 Cochran Volkswagen achieved fast success and this year, solidly led the Pittsburgh District in first quarter sales. In addition, #1 Cochran last month announced an even greater commitment to the Volkswagen brand with the acquisition of Billco Volkswagen in Wexford.
Frank Trivieri, Executive Vice President of Sales for Volkswagen of America (VOA), referenced #1 Cochran’s now two locations as he presented a commemorative plaque to Mr. Cochran. “Volkswagen is delighted to have a dealer the caliber of #1 Cochran, and we’re happy to discuss a third, fourth or fifth location at any time,” joked Mr. Trivieri.
Other notable guests included Dormont Borough Manager Jeffrey Naftal, along with members of Dormont Council, Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street organization. Also in attendance were Jason Kutney, president of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, William Krahe of Grand View Development Co., and Jason Betters from Nello Construction.
The spirited “Open Haus” featured authentic German food from Max’s Allegheny Tavern and live German music from Autobahn, Pittsburgh’s Oktoberfest band. Emceeing the affair was Paul Steigerwald, the “voice of the Pittsburgh Penguins” from ROOT Sports Pittsburgh. Highlights also included giveaways and games from the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Bucco Brigade, an appearance by the Pirate Parrot, and grand prize drawings for field passes to Pirates’ batting practice and a Limo Dinner for Two to Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh.
For Volkswagen enthusiasts, there was a VW trivia contest, tips from the only Volkswagen master technician in Pittsburgh, and a custom built 1966 Volkswagen Beetle on display.
“This is a great time to be a Volkswagen dealer and a Volkswagen customer,” noted Mr. Cochran. “With our new showroom in the South and a new dealership in the North, we look forward to serving Volkswagen lovers with our unmatched brand of customer care.”
